1994 The Year In Guitar
1994 was a very great year for the guitar. But 1994 was also a year of great tragedy with the deaths of guitarists Joe Pass, Danny Gatton, Eric Gale, Albert Collins, and Mick Ronson and others. We shall remember them all in our prayers.
1994 was also a very monumental year for recordings. Here is Tune-Up's Top Ten Guitar Recordings of 1994:
2. Steve Lukather - Candyman
3. Larry Carlton - Renegade Gentleman
4. Ron Eschete - A Closer Look
5. Robben Ford - Mystic Mile
6. Richard Smith - From My Window
7. Joe Cocker - Have A Little Faith - with Tim Pierce/ Michael Thompson
on guitars
8. Frank Gambale - Passages
9. Mick Ronson - Heaven 'N' Hull
10. A tie - Burning Water - Mood Elevator (Michael Landau on guitar)
and Eagles - "Hell Freezes Over" (Joe Walsh, Don Felder, Clenn Frey, and John
Corey on guitars.)
Tune-Up Hall Of fame
This is something that I wanted to do for quite some time here at Tune-Up
- that is to honor some of the great guitarists that have influenced me,
the writers at Tune-Up and the readers. We started with a list of 25 and
we'll add on a few more every year. The guitarists on the list are all
some of the greatest and most influential guitarists of all time. They
are not only great musicians but great people as well.
The inductees into the Hall of Fame will all receive plaques and support
from Tune-Up in all their future endeavors.
So CONGRATULATIONS! to all the guitarists in the Hall of Fame and thank
you for all the contributions you have made to the guitar player in general.
